As 5G has become a well-established industry standard, the 5G Lab Germany focuses its attention on turbo-charging 5G to propel mobile communications to new heights: the next, sixth generation of mobile communications (6G).
The IEEE 6G Summit Dresden is the 8th installment of this high-impact conference series (formerly IEEE 5G Summit Dresden) in the field of cellular communications, which is home to industry executives and academic scholars alike. During this two-day event, IEEE, 5G Lab Germany, and TU Dresden will host presentations by world-renown professionals and industry leaders as well as an exhibition featuring one-of-a-kind demonstrators by global players, startups, and academic institutions. Together, we want to exchange trends, ideas, business opportunities, and discuss the future of mobile communications on May 9-10, 2023, at Messe Dresden. http://5gsummit.org/dresden/

The 6G Summit is the highlight of the third Dresden Communications Festival (DCF3). Together with five side events, it forms a versatile week full of scientific dialogues, exciting talks, and innovations on 5G and beyond. Leading scientists, industry representatives, and politicians meet in Dresden, the beating heart of Silicon Saxony, to jointly shape the future of mobile communications. The 6G-Hub “6G-life” and the Cluster of Excellence “CeTI” will gather for their General Assemblies, the Cluster4Future “SEMECO” will have its kickoff, and the Franco-German Ecosystem on 5G Private Networks will have a connecting workshop. Finally, NI will host a round table discussion on advancing 6G technologies. All parts of the DCF3 will join forces and focus on 6G and 5G beyond Communications and its applications. https://dcf.events/

The 5G Lab Germany at TU Dresden was initiated in 2014 for a holistic approach on 5G research. The current fifth generation (5G) and the following sixth generation (6G) of mobile communication systems will impact our lives more than any other wireless technology in the past. The disruptive changes are the introduction of the Tactile Internet with latencies of 1ms, massive increases of security and resilience, as well as a massive increase in throughput. It will enable tackling new markets such as Industry 4.0, transportation systems including secure driving, smart grids, health care, and many more disruptions in markets, such as agriculture and construction industry. New technical requirements must be carefully extracted from a deep understanding of the Tactile Internet applications. New key technologies in network architecture, air interface, and cloud systems will achieve the requirements. With more than 20 faculty members, more than 600 researchers, and our cooperation partners from industry, the 5G Lab Germany is well prepared for the upcoming research challenges in the 5G and 6G world.
