Lichtmodulation als Schlüsseltechnologie

Photonen, winzige Teilchen des Lichts, zu steuern, ist für verschiedenste Technologie-Anwendungen in der Medizin, Industrie und Forschung von Nutzen. Flächenlichtmodulatoren (engl. Spatial Light Modulators, SLMs) sind optische Systeme, die dynamisch die Lichtintensität, -phase oder -polarisation ändern können. Es existieren verschiedenste Technologien, Licht zu modellieren. Verschiedene SLM-Varianten zeichnen sich anwendungsspezifisch durch unterschiedliche Eigenschaften, wie Phasen- vs. Amplituten- vs. Polarisationsmodulation, Geschwindigkeit, Wellenlängenbereich und Grauwertabbildung (Analogfähigkeit), aus.
